40 man raids

Topic: PvE|

10 man raids are now easy. Let me explain. Yesterday I get a whisper.

E****: Vuur!!!
Vuur: ?
E****: Do you want to run Molten Core? We have like 15 people already..

After a long day of heroics and badge farming, I say sure. I work my way over to MC. There’s people from all sorts of guilds – levels 57-70+ and most are un-tuned. So the warlock who is leading the group and the 5 other locks in this group get summons first and we deplete our soul shard collections to get the group in. Great. We have 2 healers, one person who has identified themselves as a tank and 20 some odd dps running around like mad from all over. The warlock passes lead to one of my guildies – why, i still dont know – and nothing is happening. i whisper him (the fatal error)

W: To Er*****: If you dont want to mark, make me lead.

Vuur is now the leader.
Uh oh. I have never been to MC. Ever. I don’t know where to turn in my atunement quest, all I know is that when i tried to get in – I was getting a “This instance is full” error message until i get ported in.
So it’s a level 60-70 instance, we’re wildly uncoordinated, I locate a couple tanks and mark and go.

molten core...

People are happier when we kill things until……..i change loot to Rare and Master Looter.

People start flipping out. “Why ML? No ML! Put it back on group loot!”
I calmly start explaining while shadowbolting – if it’s group loot – people who dont need the items won’t get them – would you want a 70 to loot your stuff? This way we can pass it out to those that need it.”
more complaining. We down the first boss – it’s pally only gear – we only have 2 pallies who could wear it – they roll, one passes the other gets it. Still people complain.
A level 67 is the most vehement. I tell him I raid lead upper level instances and this method works best. He’s flipping out saying he’s been playing this game for a long time and ^%*%^^%^*$%&#$$# put it on group loot.
I stop repsponding. people are adding themselves into the raid – Blizzard of Oz is gaining more and more of a presence and now people who were pissed at me start dropping out and trash talking me in trade channel.

Whatever. I don’t see anyone else stepping up. I’m looking up bosses on the fly – coordinating a raid of people from all over who don’t want to listen, using soul shards left and right to summon people and a level 67 is giving me grief about how I am a horrible person.

Fabulous. See how much I care. I’m sorry you rolled a 14 to the 94. I’m trying to keep us moving, keep us alive and ensure we have fun. If you don’t like it – you may leave. VUUR IS EVIL!

Luckily half of the group is now members of my guild, we’re on vent and coordinating until we get blindsided by a boss who wipes us. Those who were was attuned to get back in find out tehre are some nasty adds…and of course – there’s not enough *ahem* attuned warlocks to get everyone back. Oh well, raid over. It was fun. Lets go kill other things….

OH. but also – I am now (evil) Vuur of the Shattered Sun. That was a pricy title, but I feel cool now.

ZA can be productive AND fun

Topic: ZA|

Now ZA happened a few days ago, but I was busy and on the road so I’m only getting to the update now.

ZA has been challenging for us in some ways. We haven’t been bringing the best group of 10 every time so that makes it a little crazy. Anyway, this time I said screw it, I’m hand picking the raid because i want to actually DOWN SOMETHING worthwhile and make this not a waste of time.
Eagle boss is easy and we make the 1st timer. Bear boss is easy and we don’t make the timer but we’re close.
Dragon boss has been the bane of our existence. This is a nice test of dps – especially from a warlock/mage point of view. Now, as a warlock I occasionally have DPS issues. It can take me a few runs to get used to my tank (especially after I do gear upgrades) and not pull aggro. Dragon boss has been tough for me – how long do I wait for the tank to pull the hatched dragons before killing the hatcher and spamming Seed of Corruption? The only time I have beaten dragon boss I was flighting very bad lag as I was on the road and was dead most of the fight.
I have NOT had good luck on this fight and it shows..

Timeout...

Luckily the tank in charge and I have been running raids for a while so we were in better shape and I finally got the fight figured out.
It’s simple. Dot the hatcher when he runs in with corruption and immolate. Do NOT touch him until he hatches last eggs. as they are popping out start dropping seeds on the hatchlings. The first seed that pops knocks out the hatcher and with the mage freezing everyone then Arcane blasting to set off the seeds they all drop fast.
All it was after we figured that out was keeping everyone alive through the fire bombs.

easy as pie...

Done! And THEN the super blade drops…..!!!!

and I roll a 14…..and lose to a mage. /roar
Oh well. We know how to beat it now. Next time….

So next is Lynx boss. He’s not bad, we’ve gotten him before and we’re on a high from taking down the dragon guy. We’re killing trash when one of the mages in front of me ice blocks for no good apparent reason….

here kitty...

/muahahhaha
A hunter in the group with a cat that looks very similar to the lynx’s we are fighting scared the mage. We have a good giggle and continue on.

Fight is easy. 1 try and bam.

lynx down

Too bad it’s real late and a weekday so we call it after that.

Hopefully we can get a similar group to go tonight and zip through it.

High King who?

Topic: Gruul's Lair|

Maybe I’m just jaded. I have a lot of high hopes for our guild and what we can do. However, Gruul’s lair is quite possibly one of the biggest thorns in my side. We had 5 non-guildies step in to help out so we could have 25 people. 2 tries of failures and they dropped out. I’m a warlock, but in this case we needed a mage with HP – so I was the mage tank…on a crappy laptop while mentally exhausted and after waiting an hour to get the group together. I wasn’t feeling it but I tried for the guild. Gruul’s is frustrating with our guild. I mean beyond frustrating. We’re just not coordinated enough to do it yet. Nothing against the guy who was organizing it but typing everything into chat takes MUCH longer than saying it out loud.
It was painful, it was awful and I’d prefer to keep it all in-guild next time so we don’t have people bailing. That fight SHOULD be simple. We just need to sort it out a little better and be more prepared when we start so we don’t spend half the time we are there organizing who tanks who and who heals who.
Next week should be better. I’ll be on my main computer, we’ll have vent and we’ll make sure people come.
I’m just starting to dislike gruul’s cause we can’t get high king down and there’s no real reason why aside from a little un-coordination which seems to destroy the raid.
